Writing a ballad, any ideas what music i can use to go with it?

Ballad of Koholint Island

On an island far at sea
Unknown to you and me
Slept the Windfish who ruled
And dreamed the island to be

Soon problems spread fast
The nightmares took over
Except for young Marin’s lust
For freedom which drove her

The island looked bleak
The outcome seemed dreary
If not for a castaway
Who still was quite weary

Was this land a wish?
The castaway did best
To awaken the Windfish
And end his complex quest.

In doing so the castaway
Though heroic and darin’
Eliminated Koholint Island
As well as young Marin

But as he lay on a plank
Staring at the sky
The castaway saw Marin
As a seagull flying by

Can you feel the difference between a Mega ship and a smaller cruise ship?

have been on two cruise ships...the freedom of the seas, and the carnival valor. I am planning a cruise to the bahamas but am worried about motion sickness, since the ships that go to the bahamas are significantly smaller than the previous ships I have been on...Can the difference be felt very much?

Freedom was 160,000 tons
Valor was 110,000 tons
and the one I'm looking at is anywhere from 65-75,000 tons :o/

Answer :
I've been on two Bahamian cruises and each time it was a smooth ride. The ship was within your range too. I'd say you'll be fine as even these ships are big enough to go through the waves effortlessly. By the way, Freedom of the Seas... I'm jealous:)

Answer :
You really can't feel any difference at all. Only something as small as like the windjammer or something like that would you be able to feel any difference.

I am going on a cruise in june, ill b on the cruise when the new twilight movie (look at more details)?

premiere, will they show the premiere on the cruise? im going on the carnival cruise, the freedom of the seas ship, if that makes a difference.

Answer :
First off, your probably going on the Carnival Freedom. The Freedom of the Seas is a Royal Caribbean ship. As far as showing the movie it is unlikely as for the most part they only show movies that have been in theatres for months or are already on DVD. In my opinion going on the cruise will be better than going to the premiere so just remember that!

Answer :
No, they will not. The movies they show on cruise ships have been in the theaters for at least a few months before cruise ships get them.

Will you consider the environment when buying a Valentine's Card?

It is thought that using recycled paper and card is beneficial for the environment, some greetings cards are produced using partially or all recycled materials, however, during this process many chemicals are used to bleach the card to a commercially attractive white, and also there is the journey this recycled card makes around the globe before ending up on the shelf of a high street store.

Billions of tonnes of recycled card, and finished greetings cards, are produced in Eastern countries, and is shipped in containers across the seas to the UK, belching out C02 into the atmosphere as the boats that are used burn fossil fuel. The majority of these vessels are decades old, and were not built in a time of environmental conscience, so they are not efficient and run on the planet’s dwindling fossil fuels.

The greetings cards and recycled paper pulp to make greetings cards arrive in the UK in containers and are then offloaded onto diesel lorries. The greetings cards are driven the length and the breadth of the UK to distribution depots, which unpack the containers, and reload onto vans and lorries to distribute to high street shops and supermarkets.

The most popular annual occasions being Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day and Fathers Day, when these dates pass, the cards are taken off the shelves. Many stores are on a sale or return agreement, so back to the East they go, packed back into containers, and returned to the recycling plant, and the cycle starts all over again.

Consider the benefits of buying FSC accredited card, from sustainable sources, where trees are planted and replaced as the felling takes place. The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is founded on inclusive and shared responsibility for setting high social, environmental and economic standards for forest management. This type of card arrives in the UK in huge sheets on pallets and is stored when it arrives at a printing company. There is no need for further distribution by road and rail.

As websites and technology continually improve, many greetings card orders are taken online. Consumers take advantage of software that enables consumers to personalise a card, as opposed to a mass-produced card on a rack in a store with the same stock design. Personalisation has reached new levels, with photo upload, and image manipulation allowing any text to appear in thousands of designs on file. In this way the consumer has the freedom to create a keepsake card which is unique to them.

When the order is placed, the design is sent to the printers that print to order. Sheets are printed, cut and folded, and best of all, no waste is produced. The card is then sent direct to the recipient using the UK’s most efficient postal service, the Royal Mail.

So this year when you are browsing for a Valentine's card in a high street shop, take a moment to consider whether you would benefit from using an online personalised greetings card company like www.funkypigeon.com. This website has a print on demand ordering system producing personalised cards, posters and calendars which are environmentally friendly and also offer the consumer total control when designing a card online.

Answer :
Yes, it also depend on who you will send. Different relationship will be the different Valentine's card.

I suggest you custom a Valentine's card by yourself with some card maker program. you can have a try for photo collage studio, which is a professional card maker software. It provides many card templates, such as Love, Wedding, Family, Friend, Baby...

Learn more about this tool from official site: http://www.photo-collage-software.com#17…

Answer :
Yes I love to make my own cards! My collegue sells her own hand crafted cards and she has produced a brilliant Valentines card made from an old road map. The choice in the shops is never great and it is definately a lot more personal to create your own whilst doing your bit for the environment

Answer :
I am president of the campaigns forum at my university, and we do a lot of campaigning about the environment. Our Go Green week coincides with valentines day, so we are doing a lot of green campaigning that week, including a green themed speed dating. To answer your question: I always make my cards, and I always buy recycled paper, then I keep my cards or if I must get rid of them then I recycle them at my local supermarket or give them to my mother for the children at her playgroup.

Who is the greatest Alexander the great or Cyrus the great.?

Hi I'm a persian and I just want to know who is the greatest man in the history Alexander the great or Cyrus the great . please read the rest before you chose Between them.

Cyrus the great , the fonder of the Persian empire , king of kings , the first detector of human right.
Alexander the great , hero of greece , a good warlord that defeated persians.

PERSONALTY :

Cyrus the great : when he defeated the the army of babylon he came to the City in piece , he allowed no one to scare the people of babylon he freed millions of slaves he let hundreds of Judaism prayer that have been put in to jail go back to their country Jerusalem he bring freedom to babylon he said every one is free to Live in every country they want and every body can pray every god he want .

Alexander the great : when Alexander defeated persians he toke every thing he needed like gold and Diamonds and he burned any other thing he don't need ( every castle and every City ) ,the worst thing he don was burning AVESTA the holy book of Zoroastrian (old persians prayed Zoroastrianism) but he is sill the best ruler Greek people have ever seen .

MILITARY

Cyrus the great : he was the fonder of one of the best troops in the ancient word the mighty Immortals the bravest and strongest persians troops 10,000 immortals was the kings personal bodygourds and they never betraid their king actually in that time persians never lied and they never betrayed , Cyrus was one of the best in sea battles he maked persias sea forse very stronge .

Alexander the great : he made Greak cavleary much stronger than it was and he used the palanx information very well . he find out some thing that maked arrowes explode wen they strikes a target and he was a goodwar lord .

and afcorse they both was genius in military and they both was so brave that they both leading the armyes.

Answer :
I think that Cyrus the Great was the greatest out of the two. Both men did achieve great military and empire things, but I think the fact that Cyrus was more tolerant made him the greater man. His greatest legacy was his kindness and tolerance of those who he conquered. I think that's a quality that can be admired. The fact that he managed to be tolerant and be a great ruler and genius in military, makes him greater than Alexander the Great. As you said, Cyrus was the first detector of human right and the king of the kings. Also, he was kind to the Jews, when many in the ancient world hadn't been. Throughout history, many have persecuted and blamed the Jews.

P.S. To those saying it's about Miley Cyrus, he's not referring to her. He's referring to King Cyrus of the Perisan Empire.

Answer :
Alexander the Great was a selfish and greedy man. He never found the secret to explosive arrows. The Chinese did. I don't undrestand why the West sees Alexander as a hero. After creating his empire, he settled down in Babylon and abandoned his homeland of Greece to its problems. Another bad thing he did was that he pushed his men too far. He forced them to fight battle after battle. He never considered that they had families and lives back in Greece. He pushed them on until they mutinied and he was forced to stop.
Alexander had no respect for other religions. He only supported religions that helped him legitimize his position as emperor of his empire.
Cyrus the Great on the other hand, had a great respect for other cultures and religions and tried to make his empire a good place for all his citizens.

What do you think of my poem?

just to let you know im 13, and this is a poem for school Competition, it has to be on our perfect day. mine is a trip to mars.

Soaring through the cryptic night sky
A feeling of freedom
As you bid your earth goodbye

Like gliding through a weightless sea
Full of flashing diamonds,
Each one of them so free

The time to disembark is here
Time to make history
Time to brush away your fear

Stepping down from your safe tin box
Onto the foreign lees
And the blood red rocks

Standing in the shadowy gleam,
Of the distant twin moons
And far away sunbeams

Dawn on the red planet is nigh
As the dim rising sun,
Illuminates the pure sky

But wait! Other footsteps match your pace,
And from the labyrinth of rocks
Emerges a green face......

Answer :
Fantastic! Just a suggestion, for the last line "Emerges a green face......" the syllables sound out of place, so try adding big, or little, or something along the lines of that, other than that fantastic.

Royal Caribbean Cruise help?

Going on the Freedom of the seas cruise to the western Caribbean, how much should i expect to pay extra for food, laundry, non alcoholic drinks, room service, tips, ben and jeri's ice cream... saw the pic, and on land, is anything covered by the cruise? and can you get bottled water from the ship to take on land? how should we dress?

Answer :
We had a great time cruising Royal Caribbean (Serenade of the Seas) in the eastern Caribbean but there were a few disappointments. They tend to have a lot of families which is fine if you're used to having kids and teens running around you. Their assigned dinner seating was a minus because we were assigned to a table for the entire cruise with a lovely family, but it was awkward because there were 5 of them and 2 of us and we felt they had to go out of their way each night to include us, rather than just have dinner together and discuss their day.

Finally, we have cruised on three lines now and Royal Caribbean stands out as the line that nickel and dimed us the whole cruise: a soda pop plan and a this and that charge, and this is included but this slightly different thing is extra. They want to take your picture several times a day but it is very expensive to buy the photos. We just wish they had added $200 to the cost and not nickel and dime us the whole cruise. Just be prepared for it to cost more than they lead you to believe and you'll have a great time in some beautiful places!

P.S. They automatically add what I consider an exorbitant housekeeping & staff tip onto your bill at the end. It's supposed to cover all the staff that are simply doing their job. You can have this charge taken off without any arguments or hassle and tip your room attendant or any particularly good waiters, etc., on your own.

Answer :
All food is included on the cruise ship so you have no need to pay extra. Laundry has a supplement cost but I do not think you will know that until you are there and given the price, non alcoholic drinks are also included e.g. jusices etc. Room service would be extra and tips at your discretion.

Dress for dinner in dinner clothing, breakfats in light clothing and bathing suits for the pool, or I guess pants and shirt.

Hope I helped!

Answer :
This is pretty much up to you. There is an unlimited amount of free food on the ship. There are even free soft icecream machines. And often there's icescream at the desert stand at the buffet. However, there are some specialty restaurants that are not free. Ben and Jerry's is not.

Soft drinks and bottled water are not free. You can buy a card which will allow you to have as much soda as you'd like. It's pretty expensive. Coffee, tea, iced tea, lemonade, milk, and juices are free. You can get free water in the dining rooms- not bottled. You can buy bottled water in any of the ports.

Laundry and drycleaning is expensive. Royal Caribbean does have a day when you can put as much underwear, nightgowns and tee shirts into a bag, and they charge $25. Or you can do what I did- take travel size packages of detergent. There's a small clothes line in the shower. I also brought along suction hooks to hang things up on. And since you can't take an iron. You can sprinkle water on creases, and then use a blow dryer- which is in every cabin. An interesting fact from my female cab driver on one of the islands. None of the native inhabitants owns a washing machine. She goes home from her job, and washes the family clothes in the river.

Room service is free, except, I believe between 1AM and 5AM. However, you need to give a tip. Tips for the stateroom and diningroom staff come to a total of $10 per person per day. If you use the SPA, which is not free, you need to tip. And a tip is added on to your bar bill.

Nothing on land is paid for by the ship, unless you're going to their private resort- Labadee.

I'd suggest that you do not book excursions thru the ship. It's much cheaper if you do it in port. And there will be many tour guides waiting for you as you disembark.

Dress during the day is very casual. On ship, you can wear a bathing suit, shorts and tops, sandals, or flip flops. Or if you're walking around, good walking shoes. You can't wear a bathing suit into the dining room. In port, shorts and a top, and good walking shoes are best- the coolest materials you have. It can get quite hot. And remember to bring a heavy sweater or jacket. It can be cool on deck in the early morning and evening.

In the evening, women must wear nice slacks and tops, or a dress into the dining room. Men should wear slacks and a shirt. Tee shirts are not appropriate. Shorts, thongs, and sneaks are not allowed. On a 7 day cruise, there are 2 formal nights. There will be people dressed in long gowns, cocktail dresses, pants suits, and simple dresses. Men will be in tuxs, or suits. If you don't feel like dressing up, you can get a good meal at the buffet. More and more people are doing so. So do as you please. Remember, this is your vacation. Spend it as you like. You don't have to impress anyone.

If you notice the higher priced rooms are also the best location. This is middle of ship -middle floor.
But really all cabins are fine now that ships have stabilizers on them.
